LEAGUE OVERVIEW
The purpose of the Boys & Girls Junior Doubles Instructional league is to introduce youth players the game of beach volleyball through the proper coaching and practice of transitioning from indoor sixes to beach doubles. The league will cover rules, techniques and strategies of beach volleyball. The goal is to develop a new generation of beach volleyball players in the Milwaukee area.
The instructional league will take place at Bradford Beach in Milwaukee, WI starting May 25th and completing July 22nd from 6pm to 8pm
All players must be current members of AVPNext.
Players are to register as a two-person team.
Participants will receive a Spike Volleyball Bradford Beach t-shirt.
Player Eligibility
All players must be current members of AVPNext.
All players must be between the ages of 12 and 19.
Instruction and Competition
League will be administered by AVPNext promoter and open level beach player Todd Gawronski. Todds staff will include several certified open level beach volleyball players from the Milwaukee area. Depending on the registration, we will attempt to have a ratio of coaches to players at 10 to 1.
All courts to conform to official AVP beach court guidelines (court dimensions, net height, antennas, boundaries, etc.)
League Format
2-on-2 beach doubles team format for boys & girls junior doubles.
Instructional, games and match schedules will be determined by the total number of teams registered per gender.
Instruction
Players and teams will be taught the fundamentals of beach volleyball including passing, setting, attacking, defense, blocking, serving, scoring and beach strategy.
Games
Teams will play organized games during the instructional period of the league. Teams will be coached during the games by Bradford Beach staff.
Matches
Matches will consist one match per league night (unless noted), best 2 of 3 match play format, rally scoring, games played to 21 points for games 1 and 2, and 15 points for game 3 (if necessary), no cap, all matches will be officiated by teams within league per assignment, no open hand serve receives, no touching the net using AVP Wilson gameball.
Flex Schedule / Substitution policy. Given the potential schedule conflicts that may arise due to the completion of the indoor club season, players may choose to opt in at the completion of the club practices. We ask that players and teams notify the league administrator so that we are aware of your individual or team situation.
